Building complex

The university campus of the University of Málaga (Spain) is composed of 19 buildings with different uses and sizes (educational, research, laboratories, sport centre).

In this demonstration case, 4 buildings with different power levels belonging to two different electricity distribution grids will be tested.

Technology status quo

The university buildings belong to different smart grids distributed over the campus.

Objectives

Two electricity grids will be tested with the objective to increase energy flexibility:

Maximise the use of local renewable energy generation

by installing ten vehicle-to-grid (V2G) electric charging points and photovoltaic (PV) canopies.

Increase energy flexibility

by installing four smart storage solutions.

Optimise the energy efficiency of power flows

via SiC power inverters which create a local DC-DC grid.
